Hey /tech/.
I've got a real problem, and couldn't solve it by searching or trying to fix it by myself (I've read a whole tutorial, didn't help me at all). So here I am:
I've recently bought a book about computer security, and with it came a CD ROM (which contained a Linux Kernel environment, with every useful program preinstalled - CodeBlocks, etc.)
I've tried to boot from the CD when I start my Asus n-20 laptop: didn't work.
Then I tried to modify the BIOS settings for it to boot automatically from the CD ROM; didn't work either. The settings weren't the same as on the tutorials I read, and I didn't want to fuck up my hardware or anything.
Could you guys help me? I think I've given sufficient details on my problem and searched enough. If you have any questions about my computer, ask me.
Btw, I'm on Ubuntu 11.10.
tl;dr : Problem on an asus n20 laptop, can't set the bios to boot from a cd rom
