I'm in my 3rd year now and rarely have any of my computer related major classes have involved me actually fucking USING a computer. I'm serious, most of this is me having to listen to giant powerpoint hell... boring the shit out of me to the point where I'm desperate enough to be on 4chan on my laptop over wireless durring class.

You do know that there's a massive quantity of theory that goes behind the operation of computers?
Theory without practical knowledge isn't that great. Are you going for a Comp Sci degree ? I know they had us coding from the first week of Freshman year.

Huh. For the first 4 semesters of my comp sci studies we used to have about 3 math classes and one actual comp sci class each semester. Theory is important, but that's also how they weed out slackers like you, OP.

comp sci is pretty much learning about the logic of the solutions used in digital computing as well as the mathematical logic behind it. you don't need very much access to a real computer to do comp sci because of the massive amount of theory that one should have knowledge of - which is math and computer logic. of course, the purpose of all this foundational theory is so that you can use it to solve information processing problems, which will involve the use of computers.

OP Here, my degree isn't computer science it's a computer one like it but not with much theory or math.

Lol community college. Enjoy your worthless degree.

The only aspect of computer science I'm aware of (besides theoretical/mathematical ones) that doesn't really incorporate actual use of a computer is like...interface design. If you want to use computers, switch to /real/ CS...you'll use them plenty here.

That's a pretty big besides. The programming aspect is only a tiny part of actual computer science.

Um OP said that their major isn't computer science, I'm guessing it's IT instead and that has nothing to do with math/theory so quit going on about that CS stuff.

Right. Besides, it's alright to operate complex computer systems and networks without knowing shit. That's why we have Windows operating systems.
