I wish to play vib-Ribbon on my PS2 and in since I have an NA PS2, I have no idea how to go about doing that.
Do I need a modchip or is there some sort of freeplay disc I can get(similar to the one for Gamecube). Yes, I fail, but I'm new to this kind of thing and I REALLY want to play vib-Ribbon.

modchip.

Modchip advantages: easy to use, many offer extra features
Modchip disadvantages: expensive, needs to be professionally fitted (or you need to be good at soldering)
Swap disc advantages: cheap, does not permanently modify your PS2 (unless you install a flip-top lid)
Swap disc disadvantages: fiddly to use, doesn't work with everything (PS1 games, for example), slide tool may damage your drive mechanism (or you have to replace your case with a flip-top lid for access).
So yes, mod chip for you as you're trying to play a PS1 game.

If you have a harddrive and the HD Loader, you can play Japanese games on a NA PS2. Now, I'm WINNER.

They are AWFUL for music games however (and large games too). They tend to get off beat if the game loads at all. Plus you need to use a modchip or a swap disk to be able to load import games on the HD anyway.
