simple math questionz

a pie filling the contains strawberries, cream, flour and sugar, ratio 10:2:4:3
how many mL of each of the other ingredients are needed if 750 mL are strawberries are used ?

((2/10) + (4/10) + (3/10)) * 750 = (9/10) * 750 = 675 mL

No.....

[(2+4+3)/(2+4+3+10)]*750 = (9/19)*750 = 355.26

Say you had 1 unit of item one with a ratio of 1:9 to item two.  Using your method, you get [1/(1+9)]*1 = .9 units of item two even though there should be 9 times as much.

Sorry, I meant [9/(1+9)]*1 = .9 units.

Since we know that its 10 parts strawberry and that yielded 750mL, then we divide to find the ratio for 1 parts, which is 75mL. Then multiply 75mL by number of parts called for.

75mL x 2 = 150mL cream
75mL x 4 = 300mL flour
75mL x 3 - 225mL sugar

From the wording of the question I am assuming it is not asking for the sum of all the ingredients, so I will leave it at this.

Adding those up gets you the 675mL claimed by >>2

Don't change these.
