Evolutionary Progressivism

Name: snafu !!KNUZHW6EEh0MUkS 2008-10-28 23:45

wut is evolutionary progressivism as portrayed by Darwin in "The Origin of Species" and "The Descent of Man" and why is it right wrong?
I get the impression that the concept does not really work in the real world, because species don't increase in complexity / "perfection", but I dunno the specifics of how Darwin would have portrayed or explained it and if his views are now largely considered defunct.

Why even bother posting this, even though that's exactly what seems to be going on in much of the threads here.
I never asked you to :\
you're just bumping the thread.
if you want i can explain what i have already come up with, but i just was hoping for some more ideas for what i could write about on the topic from here.

dunno if you're just trolling, but if this were the case the tripcode should do the work. That said; move along, nothing to see here.

tripcodes were never meant to be used as a permanent, long-term means of identification.
Just to distinguish your own posts in any particular thread.
This should be apparent from their design.
If someone takes, your name, too bad, quit bawwing.

When's the last time you posted?  I don't remember either of you for some reason.

So, is this some sort of history of science/philosophy/creationist class?  Standard biology classes usually just tell you what is known/accepted to be true, rather than ask you to read ancient books and interpret them or something.  Similarly, I don't think there's much to learn from reading 1880s literature on the luminiferous aether.

it's a european history class :P
we got the option of choosing what to research and write about, one of them being evaluating the concept of progressive evolutionism, as detailed by Darwain. Seemed by far the most interesting topic to me (other than that, something about Marx's theory of history, the "freedom hypothesis" according to Dostoevskys, and Ivan Ilych's life, and I'd honestly prefer watching paint dry over writing about any of those, perhaps with the exception of the Marx piece.
It really doesn't matter whether or not you know anything about the pieces I am talking about, I may include any good ideas about evolutionary progressivism and why it does / does not work (currently of the mind it does not work). So if anyone has any ideas, really, I'd appreciate any and all help.
I assure you all I am not planning to relay on a bunch of posts in /sci/ to \write my paper for me :\

Evolutionary progressivism isn't the same thing as progressive evolutionism.
