The unintelligent segment of the population tends to breed frequently and in great numbers.  Fapping is a way to avoid the inherent negatives of overbreeding, acting as a natural prophylactic.  Unfortunately, this creates a disparity between the  proportion of the intelligent and the unintelligent.  Unless the US gains a wider acceptance of drawn and animated porn, we're all fucked.

There's a singular evolutionary advantage to fapping.

Fapping keeps you away from the batshit crazy bitches that you'd otherwise have to seek sexual culmination from.

By staying away, you decrease their incidence of mortality.  That's another way of saying:

"You aren't around to strangle those crazy cunts."

Hence, evolution uses fapping to keep lifespans of baby-producers higher than otherwise.

Well obviously individuals with larger sex drives want to have sex more meaning they are more likely to pass on their genes, and as such humans have evolved in a way that causes us to want to fuck all the time.

Fapping merely stems from having these desires unfilled, not as an actual evolutionary advantage itself.

There are probably many reasons. The main, and most obvious, is that infrequent use of your genitals may lead to degradation and decay. Fapping is a way to use your genitals when there is no other option. Also, failing to get laid is harmful to one's mental well being, and fapping may be a method of reducing that unnecessary stress.

Masturbation was an unintended consequence of developing a drive for sexual pleasure. For some reason it is only a problem when human civilization first came about, because people needed many babies, that's why masturbation was so discouraged and we developed cultures where it was so stigmatized.

For animals in the wild there probably isn't a problem of chronic masturbation such that it would impede on one's ability to produce children because... well... I don't really know why. But I assume generally in a wild setting the theraputic benifits of masturbation must outweigh (in terms of survival benifit) the lessened drive to reproduce with a female, therefore in such a setting it was generally good for survival.

My suspicion is that flagrant displays of sexual acts are tied very strongly to aggression and dominance, and thus can be used as insults. A civilized society that wishes to avoid the increase in conflict that such outrages would inevitably produce could choose simply to ban the lot of them.

It really depends on whether or not chronic fapping is an inherited trait. A chronic fapper will have a lower probability of producing offspring since they continually prematurely release their semen thus relieving themselves of the motivating factor which drives others to copulate. As a result, over time, chronic fapping will become non-existent, but only if it is an inherited trait.

I think masturbation is evolutionarily useful because it allows individuals currently unable to find sexual partners to serve more effectively as group members. It allows them to focus on things other than sex, at least temporarily.

For one it could allow them to focus on whatever task they're doing at the moment, which means they excel, impressing potential mates and giving a reputation among his peers. And a terminally celibate person still offers the tribe some benefit, meaning the occasional mutation resulting in zero sex is still beneficial so long as they're great at something the tribe needs, like abstract thought.
