I'm sorry OP but I cannot deliver the explanation you are asking for because I am actually underage B&. I'm in a third grade remedial class and my hobbies include smelling my finger after I have shoved it in my anus.

The Nova miniseries on string theory was Excellent.
String theory is interesting and promising, probably can't ever prove it's true (or any theory dealing with what's OUTSIDE our universe)

Ehh...Loop Quantum Gravity sets up a much better framework than does String Theory, insofar as their work on lattice structures and spin-networks at the sub-subatomic scale.

"sub-subatomic scale" is the stupidest phrase ever. Subatomic = smaller than atomic, sub-subatomic = smaller than smaller than atomic? That doesn't even mean anything. It's like saying "less than less than 5."
Good luck trying to prove a physical phenominon. But if it can accurately predict all physical interactions, who cares whether the universe really is of dimension 11?
String Theory is only String Mathematics until they make some falsifiable predictions.
SPOILER: This new theory is bullshit too.

He mixes bosons and fermions. It's not supersymmetry but it's not exactly plausible either.

Well this theory actually makes testable predictions, so thats a big deal right there. And no free parameters, the numbers are actually a consequence of the math instead of plugged in.
That said, the exact way he's doing it probably isn't right, because of the different way to use the math. But its good enough that we should finally be able to kill off fucking string theory. God that shit is awful.
