I came from /g/

Name: originalguru !iO2WczwrpU 2013-08-10 0:04

Hello, I came from /g/ and in this thread I want to expose my opinion about /prog/.
First of all: you are not as smart as you think you are, actually you are pretty pathetic. You may ask why this guy from /g/ says this? I say this because you really believe that LISP dialects are good for programming. Let me tell you something: LISP is just for BS n00bs students. Also this is the reason why the only computer book you know/mention is SICP, you probably left the university because maths were too difficult/boring for your fragile brains.
Second, world4ch memes are as dumb as imageboards "memes". You are not more special because you do jokes about jews, russians, and arabs or because you know some BBCODE+some unicode chars. Actually I think it's very funny how many of you waste your time learning how to "hack" text styles just to feel superior.
Third, all your knowledge about Touhou characters is embarrassing even for someone like my self (I watched anime when I was in the high-school). And also there is nothing funny about repeating LAIN a thousand times, seriously, even /b/tards seems smarter than you.
And the last thing: /r/programming is better than this shitty place full of elitist faggots like all you, and in my honest opinion Reddit is one of the more disgusting and stupid communities of the whole Internet.

I hope you could think about all this I said, but I know you can't because your brain is tiny. like the brain of a rat.

You almost got me, but desktop threads are boring.

>>59
/g/ isn't perfect, I know, but at least the discussion is somehow related to technology (consumer electronics are technology), while /prog/ is more about politics ans shitposting than programming.

>>62
I just don't agree with the popular belief that everything what's shit about /prog/ is /g/'s fault. It's simply not true.
Also, the reddit issue. This fucking argument is used almost always when someone on /prog/ has different opinion from the rest. Hurr, you must be from reddit durr. I don't like reddit, I don't go there, just please stop refering to reddit whenever I post anything. Is this sime kind of complex, or what?
See this post here >>64, again, reddit and /g/ is to blame for everything.

I'm from /g/, I don't hate /prog/, I didn't come here to shitpost, but blaming /g/ for every fucking shitpost or SPAM that appear here is just stupid.

Worst, this ``le making fun of le reddit''
Get with the times, grandpa. Now we hate on Hacker Jews and anything that has to do with ENTERPRISE and Web 2.0 Cloud Javascript Enabled Social Media.

Using Back to Reddit, ``please'' is just a generic insult and lately we haven't been really hating on Reddit lately.

It's mostly /g/ who came and shitted up the place with their memes and threads like this. Hell, I dare to say proggit users are cool nowadays, because their links are (and usually have been) programming related, even if they care a bit too much about Javashit. You're just retarded if you open the comments for pure pleasure.

You seem to think the HMA meme is something cringe worthy, but actually I reminisce of those times and I'd wish we could get them back, because I'm sure as hell these /g/tards aren't helping at all.

Also, look, the dubs guy is still here.

Name: Anonymous 2013-08-10 22:29

Why don't you guys just move to /g/ already. Images are fun.

the discussion is somehow related to technology
The discussion here is somehow related to programming, too. Check the front page instead of ranting about the lack of /g/reentext here.

In case you haven't figured out already, nobody is putting all the blame on /g/. Why would /g/ be responsible of the rampant antisemitism, the spam bots or the I FOUND A NEW EVIL threads? They're all our issues, and we know pretty well the causes of them.

What we're blaming you of is the fact you brought your ``culture'' here. Asking for programming help (I'm pretty sure you don't like tech support threads either), replying to legitimate threads with your interrupted /g/reen texts, spewing memes like a child from Reddit would do, complaining about the state of the board after you do the things I mentioned and stuff like that are what we don't want you to do.

As I said in >>69, telling someone to fuck off back to Reddit is just another way of saying "you're a retard, get out" that just stuck because there were legitimate proggit users that came here. It does not reflect the current situation of the board.

So please, we don't mind if you want to come here, but for fuck's sake, write proper prose and communicate like a proper human (that is, not stuffing your posts with e/g/in meme foam)

I encourage you to reread >>64 carefully. It contradicts what you've said about it.

Despite your protests, your continued presence in /prog/ reveals your conceit... or deceit. You remind me of Dawkins, who gave up his life of doing useful science to harass Christians. Except he invented the mother of all memes, and you claim to come from the land of regurgitated memes.

/g/'s influence on /prog/ (which wasn't brought up in >>64, thank you very much) has never been good. Do you remember Woodscrews? /prog/ was as bad as /g/ at that time for the same reason. With 3-5 regulars (relax, two of them are in Sußman's head—Cain and Abel-san), it's easy to tell when /prog/ is suffering from transient external influence and it's usually just as easy to identify the origin.

All those things were made fun of before, but there are a lot of assholes aping stereotypical redditors when they shit on reddit. The form you bring up is not at issue.

HMA was a real problem at times. I don't know if you managed to understand any of the content threads that were completely derailed by HMA, but it ruined a lot of good, topical conversation. The predictable HMA responses here and there were fine, but there was a point when it wasn't funny or innocuous.

Name: Anonymous 2013-08-10 22:52

>>73
That. Stop it.

Name: Anonymous 2013-08-10 22:58

>>74
HMA never was funny, and it did ruin some perfectly good threads, yes. But at least it was an internal cause that sorted itself out.

I don't think the link to /prog/ in /g/ is going to go away any soon, though.

I can't really blame lelcunt for doing his thing. It certainly isn't the right way to go about the /g/ issue, but it is a natural response.

Name: Anonymous 2013-08-10 23:08

>>76-77
Sure, but I'm not blaming /g/ for everything. So I don't care if it was /g/'s fault or not. /prog/ is better without it, and the bit of /g/ we have now is not as bad as HMA was.

This ``lelcunt'' is more annoying than the people he's responding to.

Name: Anonymous 2013-08-10 23:22

and the bit of /g/ we have now is not as bad as HMA was.
Sorry, I can't agree.

Yes, lelcunt is one hell of an annoying fuck, I hope he goes away, but I don't think he will until the /g/ shits leave.

I've yet to see a good thread completely destroyed by /g/ since woodscrews. HMA was peaking at that time anyway, and /prog/ was near its worst.

If you think the infrequent appearance of someone from /g/ not quite fitting in and maybe being a shit by starting a thread like this one is worse than every topical conversation being shitspammed into nothing and being pushed to page 5 by a series of identical posts then I don't know what to say.

Things were better before HMA peaked than now. It's not worse now because we have a few /g/ folks here, it's worse now because we now have less quality /prog/lodytes. We put up with that frequent, low-snr tdavis stuff, I think we can put up with the amount of /g/ bullshit that shows up.

Name: >>80 2013-08-10 23:52

I'm not hating on the tdavis stuff. It's a part of our heritage and it's not too obnoxious.

The problem here is that you are talking about why /prog/ is shit. Now I don't think /prog/ is shit. You think /prog/ is shit. I don't blame /g/ for making /prog/ shit (not that I think /prog/ is shit). But if you have a bunch of people that think you are shit, are they going to be fun to be around? Just accept us as we are and we'll have a good time.

>>79
lelcunt's shitposting is postmodern and has thought put into it.

>>80
stop ranking me in quality. I'm not a caged bird that sings for your pleasure.
