Using Latin to solve problems of AI

Name: Anonymous 2013-07-29 8:32

Latin is a language with an easy to parse, logical structure and very few ambiguities. One of the major problems in natural language processing and thus artificial intelligence is the difficulty of parsing human languages, exactly due to the ambiguities and very flexible structures (see buffalo buffalo buffalo for an example) found in these languages today.

Am I the only one who sees the possibilities here?

Use Lojban thread over.

But Lojban is constructed and a language almost no one knows, let alone speak. Not to mention the lack of learning resources when compared to Latin.

I was about to respond with a bevy of confusing passages, such as that one from Virgil that nobody really gets, or that one from Horace where three consecutive lines all have double meanings depending on interpretations of declensions that create wonderful innuendo, etc.  But then I decided `fuck it'.  To show my disdain and disgust, I left a single letter.  Let it be read as if a man draws himself up to say `So:' but then shakes his head and wanders off.

It's more natural for the verb to come at the end of a sentence.

One of the major problems in using latin is the difficulty of using a language where most of the words people use today have no translation.

Then just make something up. Catholics do it all the time. It's not as if any Roman's are going to show up and yell at you for butchering their language.

I didn't back down when my HIV-positive boyfriend wanted to bareback me, so there's absolutely no way I'm going to let the idea of a mere mind virus scare me away.
