The V8 project is an important project if you consider fast JS on the web to be important. This is why Google places a lot of talent on JS to help it be as optimal as it can.

That doesn't make any sense a well crafted c program could just use the javascript engine through an api. This is a test of libraries, not languages, and even then, it's a test of implementations, not languages.

That's the fastest category for Javashits anyway, things get worse quickly from there. I also find it a bit strange that a language implementation with this much attention on the benchmarks game has 3 programs missing (which could potentially move the mean cpu time up, bringing it down the rankings), programs like pidigits. Lua, Erlang, etc. are only missing 1.
