Any good RISC ``PC'' microprocessors (that is to say, not a ``microcontroller,'' no integrated memory) still in production? PowerPC looks good, but most ppc products are either defunct, under-documented or both.

Define "good". There's still PPC, SH, ColdFire SoCs and application processors being made, and of course a fuckton of ARM-based ones. There's not much you'd like to make a desktop computer out of, but the upcoming ARM server CPUs look kind of interesting.
I guess you can still buy some PPC-based Amiga-replacement boards, but they're fucking expensive and only used by insane people.
You can make your own ``big boy'' CPU by wiring together a bunch of Microchip PICs. Needless to say, it will still be slow as fuck, but at least it'll be able to take larger amounts of memory.

Of course, the problem of speed only arises because 9 times out of 10 the microcontroller in question doesn't support jumps outside of on-board regions of memory. Hence, you have to emulate an entirely different program counter by writing a FETCH-DECODE-EXECUTE metaprogram to interpret the contents of whatever program you're reading from. Speed really isn't an issue on what I'm working on, but I never thought a homebrew cpu type solution would be appropriate. I guess I should do more research.

I wish these had some utility for me so that I could somewhat justify spending the outrageous amount of money IBM is asking for Power7
