Learning Programming

I'm a professional soccer/football player. I love computers and programming, sadly, I know 0 things about both. Now, my question is: It's a good idea learn programming as a hobby(I want to learn C as first language) or not?

Gnah! Wouldn't recommend that...JavaScript is a very complex language. Besides the syntax can be very confusing for beginners. I would recommend OP to start with a rather easy language like python or ruby...

If you want to learn how computers work you don't necessarily have to learn a programming language.

It works the other way around to: If you know how to programm you don't necessarily know how computers work.

Yes it is a good idea.

C is as good a first language as any, if you aren't mentally deficient and aren't a faggot who gives up on everything that is slightly difficult. It's a small language, but it isn't easy because of the under-featured standard library, lack of high-level features, and manual memory management. If you can't deal with that stuff, though, you probably shouldn't be programming. If you really just want to do it as a hobby and don't care about anything else then Python is probably better. It's easier and you can do more with it at first.

That being said, you can start with any Turing-complete language at all, even Brainfuck (don't start with Brainfuck). It doesn't matter where you start, what matters is where you end up.

If it's just for a hobby, learn a "scripting language" like Python or Ruby. If you want to get a job in programming, you should learn assembly and how to design/analyze your own algorithms.

there are only two languages worth knowing: Javascript and assembly

I believe you mean LITHPu and assembly.

Imagine a giant penis flying towards your mouth, and there's nothing you can do about it. And you're like "Oh man, I'm gonna have to suck this thing", and you brace yourself to suck this giant penis. But then, at the last moment, it changes trajectory and hits you in the eye. You think to yourself "Well, at least I got that out of the way", but then the giant penis rears back and stabs your eye again, and again, and again. Eventually, this giant penis is penetrating your gray matter, and you begin to lose control of your motor skills. That's when the giant penis slaps you across the cheek, causing you to fall out of your chair. Unable to move and at your most vulnerable, the giant penis finally lodges itself in your anus, where it rests uncomfortably for 4, maybe 5 hours. That's what programming Lisp is like.

Don't change these.
