New language

Name: Anonymous 2012-04-27 1:04

Alright guys,
I have been playing with Python for awhile but it's getting old.

Does anyone suggest a new, easy to learn, multipurpose language.

By multipurpose I mean like programming games to programming little programs for personal use.

Whatcha got?

P.S; I would prefer something a little less used.

I moved to Java after Python.

Haha, it's not from that.
I'm actually a very sloppy coder.

I hate cluttered words.

I think I'm going to move onto Java, maybe Lua.

Alright, I lied.
It is from god damn Python.
Time to break a habit, that's a reason why people told me not to go to Python first.

Perl6 is really fun to code.

It has so many features asking to be abused.....

FORTH

Haskell was fun to learn. I think I'm going to learn perl6 next, and try and jam in Java with it.

there's no reason not to use an elegant and well-designed language nowadays (aka javascript)

Go

anything but lisp and haskell

especially liskell

Sweet.

Because whatever you do, DON'T go near the best functional languages as they will pollute your mind with ideas such as "C++ might not be the best language for everything ever" and "Maybe typeclasses are better than OOP in most cases".

Name: Anonymous 2012-04-30 5:35

>>23
lisp excellent semantics but a pure shit syntax. everything else (including haskell) is worse.

Name: Anonymous 2012-04-30 14:24

But Haskell is a compromise between C and Lisp for size and expressibility!

Name: Anonymous 2012-04-30 18:06

perl6 is definitively a great language, but they still have to release it as the "official version" (of course they need to finish some features first)

Name: Anonymous 2012-04-30 21:24

yes, C's expressiveness and Lisp's size and readability

Name: Anonymous 2012-04-30 23:25

Ruby. Because pure OOP and abuse of expressions is fun.

Exactly. Very readable and express.

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-01 12:06

>>29
No, verbose and unreadable.
