xanax sucks

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-12 0:19

why can't I legally be given marijuana to treat my anxiety and panic

why do I have to buy it from unreliable, lazy high school dropouts

notice how the recent thread I made when I was high as balls was really upbeat and silly... weed temporarily rids me of my panic and anxiety, xanax doesn't do all that much help

the threads I make when I'm sober often sound paranoid or crazy, but weed calms me down more than benzos or antipsychotics or anything else for that matter

I'm not a stoner fag... I only smoke a few times a month and I only really care about anxiety/panic relief, not the ``hurrdurr guize I'm high xd sooo randum'' faggotry

I do not visit the imageboards so don't tell me to go ``back'' to them
when will you faggots learn that there are textboard-exclusive shitposters?

Back to /b/ please.

I don't think there's enough oldbies anymore that hang around world4ch to make it happen. These boards are too flooded with clueless children from the imageboards that have no clue of the history, culture, or how to comport themselves (thus the level of quality pumped out of these boards these days evident). When I promoted the idea nearly three years ago, there might have been a chance to get another four or five good years out of this place (especially /prog/), but this assumes that moot, Mr VacBob, et al. taking such a suggestion seriously.

I suspect most of the old users of world4ch are long gone (Xarn being a confirmed example), they've probably moved on to private mailing lists or even possibly some hidden 2ch-like board that they're not revealing to anybody (I don't blame them). So where does that leave us? Well, to put it succinctly, the shithouse. Perpetually stuck between a rock and a hard place, forced to be part of the main site with its ever-increasing popularity (and thus ever-increasing flood of imageboard users finding their way here), and an old long-gone userbase of who enough don't care to muster up the energy fabricate a suitable replacement.

So in summation, yes I guess I could be optimistic and agree that
Just because we've failed before doesn't mean we can't succeed.but until I see projects that go beyond the scope of what that "Tablecat BBS" guy is doing and the failed attempt by the short-lived world5ch.net (which some say was a Milkribs operation), I'm sorry if I'm a bit pessimistic about it all.

There have always been, and always will be flamers, shitposters, or whatever else you want to call them. I've been keeping up my antics since telnet BBSes and Usenet, and now I've broadened my horizons to include web-based textboards as well. I've been shitposting longer than most of you have been alive.

I am not new, nor is shitposting (or whatever other term you'd like to use for it). You're kidding yourself when you say that `back in the old days /prog/ didn't suck''.

Being integrated with 4chan has had little impact on the shitty quality of World4ch.

In conclusion, deal with it or fuck off. If you want real programming discussion then go to comp.lang.*

not a fucking web text board.

The only websites I browse anymore are 4-ch and 4chan. And I don't even go to 4chan for discussion anymore, as I just look at the pictures. I also read articles on wikipedia, youtube for songs, watch porn, and google for movies and anime (mostly movies) I might watch. Lastly I talk to people on omegle to waste my time, because our discussion never gets anywhere. That's ALL I do on the internet. I don't ever do anything else, since, 2 years now, and I use my computer like 5 hours a day.

At risk of desecrating a valuable relic of /prog/'s ancient culture, you seem to be right. Browsing the earliest archives shows pure, unbridled shit along with the usual programmering discussion, including copious ``wat languaeg lern first?'' threads. There seem to be more homework/support questions as well as lots more of fucking Sepples threads, but it's ironic to find thread yearning for the olden days as early as in June of 2007[1]

are you saying we should implement a text BBS in scheme? And then force users to enter their submissions in a linguistic syntax tree using s expressions? And then transform this representation between the various world languages?

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-12 2:33

yea implement a bbs
why not

Are you suggesting that /prog/ goes through cycles of shit? That's true, but when it did go through periods of shit, it didn't drag the whole board down for more than a month at most.

>>13
No. Kindly piss off.

My post was aimed more to the fact that /czech/ has always been to the brim with shit.

But yes, from my experience here ranging from... late 2008 or early 2009 to this day, /prog/ for some reason goes through spells of explosive diarrhea of shitpostery, to calmer periods with more tempered discussion, such as now.

Some people blame it on imageboarders, but as the octogenarian tramp said above, there has always been a strong force of local shitposters.

When this board really is run to the ground, it's almost always when it's invaded by one or two particularly dedicated shitposters (who aren't even trolling), like FrozenVoid or the ``in Lisp'' guy.

I doubt that those idiots are attracted by the shittiness, as both actually wanted to hold serious discussions, in their own retarded ways, so I think it's more that /prog/ is left shambles after they completely (and very easily) dominate the board with their endless, self deluded rambling, and  as it isn't worth to post anything but shit while they are here, the board remains like that for months after they left.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-12 14:58

whatever happened to FrozenVoid and LispGuy?

My post was aimed more to the fact that MY ANUS has always been to the brim with shit.

oh FrozenVoiden where art thou?

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-12 15:13

cycles of shit?
/prog/ is like the sun.
Sending flares of charged cons cells our way.

Isn't the iNlisp guy still around responding to threads about Symptra

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-12 19:11

Not so great when we spend a non-shit cycle discussing shit cycles, though. What do you people want to see on /prog/? Discussing books? Algorithm talk? Challenges? EXPERT BBCODING?

>>22
Yeah, he's still around. I saw some example CL code with "yoba" in it as a metasyntactic variable name recently, too.
