PHP - CodeIgniter vs CakePhp vs etc

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-05 19:16

Can we get a discussion going about PHP frameworks. From your experience which one do you think is better.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-05 19:17

From what I've gathered from google, I think Codeigniter is pretty good. It seems to be faster and less bloated than a lot of the other frameworks out there.

I'd ignite her code, if you know what I mean.

I've used CodeIgniter. It's fast (for PHP anyway) and flexible. The other ones restrict you too much.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-06 13:59

CodeIgniter also has excellent documentation, could be its main selling point.

Symfony2.

What about if the users will rate cheeseburgers?

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-06 23:07

Has anyone here tried multiple frameworks. It's easy to say codeigniter is the best when it's all you know.

Get out of /prog/ and do some research yourself, asshat.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-07 1:29

>>10
A lot of times people make threads like this because they want to know what /prog/ thinks about a given topic. I will repeat that nice and slow so that even you can get it, they want....to know.....what /prog/....thinks about it. Does that not compute in that tiny apology you call a brain? Do you think by saying google it you're adding something new to the conversation. WOW google it! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF DOING THAT?!

Go fuck yourself.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-07 1:49

>>11
I don't use any PHP framework, because frankly, PHP is shit enough just by itself. I don't want any extra slowness or bloat. If you lurked any thread on /prog/ regarding PHP1 you'll see more hate and insults than any compliments for the language.

1. The statement also holds if you replace PHP with any other language.

The user base of CodeIgniter is largely ignorant programmers and front-end developers. It's worse than RoR and NodeJS. The code quality is horrendous. People recommend CodeIgniter because it's their first framework and it's all they know and they don't know better. It's a virus in the PHP community. Please quarantine yourself by using Silex or Symfony2.
