Despite being better than most professional programmers and knowing more languages than them, I stay the fuck away from computer-related jobs as they frustrate me to no end.  I have a fairly good, relaxed and well-paying job right now (inside the comfortable walls of the university), and the lack of stress means better health and better overall quality of life.  Enjoy premature aging, faggot.

I've seen some universities that put pressure on their employees. That sounds like a wonderful place to be though. I've found work to be mostly making half working implementations within the shortest amount of time possible, using broken frameworks and preexisting algorithms, filled with bugs, missing features, and performance that can't scale, and you are not given enough time to properly fix these components. I don't let it get to me or anything, but other people will expect you to be stressed, and I don't find the work itself stressful, but being around other stressed out people is stressfuluncomfortable.

yeah, maybe later. It all depends on the ratio of (features / money). time = money / wage, and quality = time / features. So:

Let D be the ratio: features / money.

D = features / money

money * D = features

wage * time * D = features
wage * time * D = time / quality
wage * D = 1 / quality
quality * wage * D = 1
quality * wage = 1/D


So quality*wage is inversely related to features/money. If one quantity goes up, the other must go down.

Although having a quality code base saves an indefinite amount of time in the long run.
