Good observations. Your hypothesis is correct, and is backed by hard science--science which unfortunately is largely ignored in the politically correct Western European countries.
Despite that, most Asian countries, including China with their 1.3 billion population, are teaching their youth the correct Multi-Regional Origin: that much earlier migrations of ancestral hominid species from Africa occurred, and through periods of geographical isolation brought on by various ice ages, further speciation and differentiation took place. As ice ages ended, and made travel between different regions more feasible, periods of gene transfer occurred.
It's why modern Western Europeans, Arabs, Asians, and Native Americans are at least Cro-Magnon and Homo Neanderthalensis hybrids, which both originated from Homo Heidelbergensis.
Not a single Homo Neanderthalensis skeletal find has every been found on the continent of Africa. Nor has an archaic Cro-Magnon find been found in central or southern Africa.
It is also why modern Western Europeans are more closely related to Homo Neanderthalensis than to modern Sub-Saharan Africans.
The genetic distance between your average Western European or Asian and Neanderthal is approximately 0.07, whereas the genetic distance between a Western European and a Sub-Saharan African is typically greater than 0.2.
For context, the genetic distance between the Gray Wolf and your average domesticated dog is around 0.135, and yet there is a wide phenotypical gap in behavioral traits between the two species.
Even the Jew York Times admits that Blacks are probably a different species than the rest of humanity, using politcally correct language.
