Except that Windows 8 will be released in January of 2012, and the public beta of it will be available at the PDC this September.
Also, I doubt it to be much of a failure, it's more of an incremental update to Windows 7 which a focus on better stability, performance, and resource use.
Microsoft is starting to emulate Apple when it comes to OS updates.
That said, Linux adoption is still growing, and Windows adoption is still stagnating. Kind of hard to gain ground in the OS market when you already have the biggest share.
