Windows 8 is nothing more than Windows 7 with a bunch of more ``streamlined'' features. It's still the same old kernel, NT, that has existed since the very early 90's. You could say the modern line of Windows OSes began and is heavily derived from early 90's NT, with small (and bigger) improvements each version (what are they up to now? 6.2?)
