On Lisp

On Lisp is a much better book than SICP. It's more deep and thoughtful, and in the end you will be a better programmer after reading it than after reading SICP. Why everyone here keeps on hyping SICP is beyond my understanding.

Why doesn't /prog/ have TeX like /sci/?
They'll break it. It already breaks enough.

They're both good books. Someone should read both SICP and learn some Common Lisp (including macrology books like "On Lisp") too.

On SICP is a much better occupation than Lisp. It's more deep and thoughtful, and in the end you will be a better /prog/rammer after doing it than after doing Lisp. Why everyone here keeps on hyping Lisp is beyond my understanding.
