Captcha >:(

For whatever reason, whenever I attempt to post anything the verification box will tell me that I forgot to type it.
I tire of these blatant lies. What do?

Name: Anonymous 2010-08-02 23:20

All other boards have the same problem. Just wait, boards are probably getting a spam protection update.

Fuck off, spammer.

moot needs to remove the CAPTCHA. Why is it so hard to make a blacklist blocking known worms. I understand the PNG one needs decompression to work, which can be memory/CPU intensive, but it's not impossible to do. Ever since the CAPTCHA was introduced, I've started posting a lot less than usual (and I barely post). The most annoying part of it is how intrusive and huge it looks, and how it breaks older greasemonkey scripts. He should also ban anyone who was stupid enough to run the worm, and not just for one hour, but for a few months. Appealing should be possible, but they'd have to personally apologize for it on IRC and promise to never do it again.

It's the legitimately posting machines that I feel sorry for. The humans can go fuck themselves.

Name: Anonymous 2010-08-03 5:19

You know that the CAPTCHA is working when the spammers come to whine about its effectiveness.

because moot can barely even afford the shit he has now, and why the fuck should he do that? he probably doesnt know how, why even bother.

there are not enough mods to clean this shit up and unbanning is even more a hassle.

that means that the captcha works.

maybe if you are so smart why dont you run 4chan?

if the shit form /b/ doesnt spill over to world4ch, im happy with the capcha, moot did the right thing.

It's not as memory/CPU intensive as you'd think, and besides, PNGs aren't posted all that often, so some extra verification time wouldn't be that much of a killer. He already has to decode toe PNGs and JPGs to make thumbials, so the whole question is moot. His coders are either lazy or don't have time to deal with this cat and mouse game.
that means that the captcha works.
Making it less attractive for users to post is a bad thing in my book. If he adds registration, I'll say goodbye to 4chan entirely(it'll be no better than a normal forum), and I've been here for years.

you forgot that this is 4chan right, less posters means increase in quality here.

Name: Anonymous 2010-08-03 7:43

You we have negative base quality?
0 posters is Kmax quality,-n posters means Kmax+n(f) quality.

Don't know if this is /prog/ related, but certain boards (such as /co/ have spoiler enabled, how exactly do you do this on this board?

Use a Greasemonkey script to convert
and
to <spoiler> and </spoiler>
