It's not as memory/CPU intensive as you'd think, and besides, PNGs aren't posted all that often, so some extra verification time wouldn't be that much of a killer. He already has to decode toe PNGs and JPGs to make thumbials, so the whole question is moot. His coders are either lazy or don't have time to deal with this cat and mouse game.

Making it less attractive for users to post is a bad thing in my book. If he adds registration, I'll say goodbye to 4chan entirely(it'll be no better than a normal forum), and I've been here for years.
