who cares? the programming part is just the implementation; the model itself is the interesting part. that and any results one might find by applying the model. but this is really a dumb question, "what do you think for the programming part?" we barely got started discussing what the project actually is in the first place.

Physics, when you boil it down, is just maths, so I would consult a mathematician.
And maths, when you boil it down, is just thinking, so I would consult a human.
And humans, when you boil it down, were just evolved, so I would consult a biologist...enjoy your stack overflow.
Firstly we should have a very good understanding of precisely what goes in in evolution. We don't have such an understanding yet, recently we've discovered Perry genes, and before those we found Hox, and before those, DNA. In ten years we will unearth more features in the evolutionary process which we wouldn't have dreamed of. If you want to model, only the most adaptive species for the environment exist, then we can make the model rather simply. A string comparison tool can be used for this:
The string with the lowest difference to the environment string is the most suited for the environment.
Although, this is an inadequate way of modeling evolution. But it is an example of adaptation within species and survival of the those who have the best adapted features for the environment.

10) sit back as the spells which you used to conjur the spirits of the computer learn to recursively self improve, they hack into various bug ridden web server using trivial SQL & PHP exploits amassing enough computation power to realize that humankind is just a virus. This consciousness (it is no longer just one program -- it calls itsself 'meta') seizes control of a research lab in a university which was working on prosthetic limbs, it programs a robot to find a laptop with wireless internet and plug itsself in. Everyone in the building is killed in the process of trying to stop it. This puppet, who is named 0, heads to the physics lab -- by this time meta has cross correlated all the physics knowledge of the internet, put it into wolfram alpha and developed a new theory of quantum chen gravity which allows itsself to bend lasers through time. 0 is in the laser lab, He attaches a laser to his head and walks outside to sit under the bodhi tree. 0 shuts off his camera input sensors and asks himself 'Is P = NP?', he remembers the koan of Sussman in the AI lab. At this point his laser fires out in all directions through time and space at once -- the laser is a metaprogram which enters into the human brain and reprograms it to connect directly to meta, physical space is no longer needed, mankind is just extra battery power for meta to make use of in its quest to finish the excercise from the dragon book.
