Getting a job

Name: Anonymous 2009-09-10 14:47

How do I do it? I know C, PHP+MySQL and JavaScript so far, and I'm willing to learn more. Something simple like writing firefox addons would do for a start. I've heard about many people doing these as freelance jobs, but I can't find any on these mercenary coder websites.

I'm seeing a lot of iPhone jobs. Should I get into iPhone programming?

Also, how do I get the fucking first job? Everyone is turning me down because I "have no experience".

Serious question?  You need an "entry level" job.  Exceed their expectations, try not to be too much of a nerd stereotype.  Use spare time to work on cool project you can brag about.

If I had a dog that looked like either RMS or CDB, I'd shave its ass and teach it to walk backwards.

Name: Anonymous 2009-09-10 15:51

What would that accomplish?

People unclear on the concept.
The poor dog would then not be quite so FUGLY as RMS and CDB are now.

But then the dog is not fully functional. You're sacrificing performance for looks.

I bet you use GUIs.

Woah, there's no need to throw around such heinous insults.

It seems someone has improved his copy-paste and remove indentation skills.

I'm writing something similar, except it's not an RTS, and it's written using C and ncurses and at least I have written some code.
