Interesting GNU/Linux scripts/programs

Name: Anonymous 2009-09-10 1:09

What interesting/fun GNU/Linux scripts/programs do you have, /prog/?  So far I've only got a system info script, a thread fetcher and something that uploads files and outputs the link they are hosted at.

What about you?

I wish I could help you, but I have never heard of The GNU/Linux Programming Language.

It is the proprietary programming language of the Hurd kernel.

Hurd is written in C. There is no GNU/Linux programming language.

I'm surprised they called it Hurd.
I was expecting it to be named RMS/GNU/Hurd

And GNU Guile

Hurd is already a part of the GNU OS. By mentioning GNU, you'd also be implicitly including the Hurd program.

And while RMS is a critical component of the only existing install, he presumably would not be included in any public distributions.

HURD is a mutually recursive acronym, standing for HIRD of Unix-Replacing Daemons, where HIRD stands for HURD of Interfaces Representing Depth. It is also a play on the words herd of gnus, reflecting how it works.

I've written a hefty wireless script before. I've written a ton of little programs that do conversions and shit for uni to save time.

IF you're talking about programs I haven't written I love aircrack.  It's nice for wireless monitoring.  iftop and htop are pretty nice also.
