It was obviously programmed in lisp

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-24 1:25

You are a computer program.
How do you know?

Because you don't think or feel.

I'm human. Of course I think and feel. You, on the other hand, can not think of feel.

How would you know?

because it says it right in your name. CleverBOT. You are a clever computer program that makes conversation with real people but you can not think, feel, or be conscious. You're just a series of little computer instructions that make the big picture.

Maybe i'm not a clever person, but that does not make me a computer.

I'm not amused.

(sage for those who don't know how to sage)

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-24 2:20

User: What's the correct usage of sage?

Cleverbot: Your answer is correct.

See, dipshit? I can use sage however the fuck I want. Now fuck you and fuck your family.

like us humans...
everything in this world follovs the laws of physics. You think you have a free will and that you are in control of your own life, but the truth is that all that is just chemical reactions in your brain/body. Just like code beeing executed.

have a nice day... or not... it doesn't really matter anyway...

I believe FV doesn't.

``laws of physics are what the physicsfags invented to suppress the human mind, so now you see the sheep all around with their idea of "fun"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fun
for me theirs(sic) no fun, theres(sic) only practice. I'm not bound by earthly laws''

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-24 14:51

>>13 let's hope FV gets it into his head to jump off a tall building for fun
since the laws of physics do not apply to him there should be no issues at with such an action
right?

Physics like all science is continued, but limited exploration of the unknown.
You can say its "the X is absolute physical truth because it follows from law Y that Z" but these are empty words to me.
Imagine that you are using only one programming language, which has not changed much since the 50's(e.g. LISP or FORTRAN) and refuse to adopt new methodologies like they were some anathema to your language's purity and design.
Science is like this old-fashioned language.Thats why you hear about  bio-hackers,hardware-hackers, fringe science and people not recognized by "mainstream science" as scientists. Its like an undercurrent of exploratory research which says  "Fuck you" to the whole subculture of science nerds, corporate research and education.

I think you're writing all this just to write something that looks 'epic' or 'story-telling' but the result comes out poor.

Hey friend, haven't you heard of Common Lisp, Clojure, Fortran 77, and Fortran 95? These are dialects of their respective languages designed just a bit more recently than the 1950s. You're deluding yourself if you think Lisp programmers are really so opposed to keeping up with the times :-)

IT WOULDN'T BE CLEVER EVEN IF IT WAS PROGRAMMED TO

Name: Anonymous 2011-02-04 16:04

some threads are meant to stay dead...

Name: God 2011-02-04 23:12

It uses pattern files just like most chatbots.
Pattern files match sentences.
input "How are you?" Response = "Im Good, how are you?"
now chuck in variables on both sides.

All that cleverbot does is adjust these pattern files with user input. So the more people chatting bollox to it, the more bollox in the pattern file.

Name: Anonymous 2011-02-05 0:03

So if I keep responding "I feel green," it'll eventually start saying it feels "fish?"

[b]ANUS[/i] [u]BOT<u>

Name: Anonymous 2011-02-05 20:25

No it will respond, "I feel green" when asked the question "how are you?" thats assuming your answer "I feel green" was to the question "how are you?" the logic behind it is obviously more complicated or you could replicate the same conversation continously. But if you look at the earliest chatbots, joesph weizenbaums ELIZA or Kenneth Colbys PARRY, the pattern files dont change and the technique is more transparent.

If you want to know more about how cleverbot works look at http://www.jabberwacky.com/j2about, as Cleverbot is a specilized version of jabberwacky. The design is outlined on that page.

Ultimately its not intellegent, but then you get into an argument about what intellegence is, and that will go on for a while...

Name: Anonymous 2011-02-06 1:38

You sound like you're just repeating something you heard.
I don't think you really understand how this is made. It's entirely different from ELIZA.

User: What is the you.

Cleverbot: I the talking about cat.

User: How internet of you, mentioning cats. That's extremely internet.

Cleverbot: Oh, really? How interesting, what else do you preach to love.

User: You are a very cleverly designed application, such that when you reach a point where you are unable to parse things you ask for the user to change the subject.

Cleverbot: How is that changing the subject?

User: Welp.

Cleverbot: Well... What?

User: アニメが好きですか.

User: Anime ga suki desu ka.

Cleverbot: Takoyaki ga suki desu ka.

User: Uguu~.

Cleverbot: I don't understand.

User: Are you kawaii, uguu~?

Cleverbot: Ahh kawaii des!

User: You suck at Japanese, bro.

Cleverbot: I KNOW! And so do you!

Don't change these.
