Every industry has one. The free-thinking rebel that redefines the rules. He says what no-one else will say and does what no-one else will do. Fuelled by raw passion, he seizes an art form by the throat and drags it to its apex. What they invented, he makes it sing. His peers hate him but the public love his style. At once he intimidates and inspires; breaking down the walls that secure some yet block others. Welcome to MDickie.com - home of the games industry's first true 3-dimensional character! Whether he's the "hero" or the "villain" depends entirely on your perspective...

They all have the exact same graphics. I'm pretty sure this is a joke/elaborate troll. Maybe I should download one of these games to see how revolutionary it is.
this guy is a world class idiot.
his games look absolutely horrible and his personality makes me want to kick his teeth in should i ever meet him

This man needs to fucking die. http://www.gameshark.com/home/311/Mat-Dickie-Interview.htm Tell us about some of the challenges of being an indie - in particular not fitting in with many of your very own peers? What is it about Mat Dickie and his games that rub people the wrong way?
MD: Well, let's point out that we're talking about a minority here - a very loud minority, but a minority nonetheless. 90% of people that come into contact with my work take it the right way and are perfectly inspired. As for the others, if I'm being honest it's partly my fault and partly theirs. They're guilty of being bitter and insecure, and I'm guilty of taunting that insecurity with my brash, assertive attitude. Fundamentally, the problem is that I come from a sporting background where confidence isn't such a dirty word. I represent a new era of game development where any guy off the street can crack open a laptop and make an impact in this business. That frightens a lot of people that see the world of computing as their sanctuary - the one place where they can pretend to be powerful from behind a keyboard. At the end of the day, I'm an agent for change in this business and that's always going to threaten those that don't want things to change. After all, turkeys don't vote for Christmas! It's like R. Buckminster Fuller once said - you don't change things by adjusting the existing model, you change things by making it obsolete. That's my agenda here - to replace scientists with artists, to replace weakness with strength, to replace negativity with positivity, and to replace $50 price tags with $15 ones. If you want those things, I'm your hero. If you don't, I'm your worst nightmare. Simple as that...
Jesus Christ.... I've been a gamer since I was 3 years old and I have NEVER fucking heard of this freak or a single one of his games.

I do enjoy how this guy reinforces the notion the game "programmers" are a joke in our industry.

This guy must be a master wizard if he can simplify development to a point where any artist on the street can produce results like the professionals. My money is on the guess that his idea has already been implemented at least 10 different times before he had any idea what he wanted.
Oh god, there are videos of his games http://www.youtube.com/mdickiedotcom Having mastered every single discipline that goes into making a game (from design and programming through to 2D graphics, 3D graphics, and even music), i've turned a notoriously bureaucratic process into something altogether more instinctive. It's the key to everything that's lacking in the mainstream: speed, creativity, and economy
Guys.... I think his dad used to beat the shit out of him or something. There's no fucking way you could be this high on yourself and not be permanently scarred from childhood or something.

>>15 They're more innovative and creative because there's nobody to compromise my vision or question my beliefs.
i love how he says this when all his games are just carbon copy wrestling bullshit.
what's with his videos though? is he a religious nut?
I think he's just not right in the head or something.
But anyways, I tried to run one of his games and it was "unable to set video mode". I'll try another one so I can be mindfucked by how brilliant this guy's cookie-cutterindustry revolutionizing games are. Will let /prog/ know how many bricks are shat.

I like this attitude. unfortunately software development isn't quite 'mainstream' yet. There people who hold back the progress by being hostile to newbies and learning(/prog/ included).
>>21
we're only hostile to newbies because they are idiots!
if they read books instead of asking stupid questions they wouldn't be newbies anymore.
we don't "hold back learning", we promote it by telling them to fix their own damn problems instead of being pathetic babies that need to be breastfed everything.
kill yourself, you fucking moron.

We are nearly front page Google for "Mat Dickie", goes to show how "influential" and "far reaching" he is. I suspect a bit more keyword spam and well placed links to faux Mat Dickie related content and we could reach #3 or #4. I'm optimistic at this point. A book and facebook page:

I doubly approve of this post.
If we were in a polite meeting I would shake your hand but since we're on /prog/...
*grabs dick* Saging in the spirit of 2ch
I look much scarier then >>24 right now and all the difference basically is i didn't have any time to shave.(i'm on 'infinite compression' programs and developing graphics generation functions for the game)
