Programming and Autism

Name: Anonymous 2009-06-03 21:29

I'm austistic, so what? I might not be able to eat my dinner if the peas touch the fish but I can program way better than any of you guys. It's like sitting in kindergarden every day talking to you lot, You just learn so slowly and you never fully understand anything. It's a fucking disgrace, I'm sick of it.. Intellectually It's been like this my whole life. I'm sure some of you can relate even though you're morons compared to me. Oh and by the way I just write a 15 line lisp program that's got a higher IQ than wolfram alpha.

Eat your fucking dinner. The fish and peas are NOT poison. I spend so much time on that dinner and this is the thanks I get?

Yes, I am an autist. So? I dont see any problem. I embraced my brain development disorder long ago and I am happy alone without a boyfriend (those are stupid anyway!). I have a fucking lot of friends in and outside of IRC and I am pretty slim and good looking.

But thanks anyway asshole. Go and have sex with your partner while I watch ANIME on my pc.

I once took an online autism test and scored dangerously in the "Severely Autistic" category. To be quite honest, I don't ``feel'' autistic. I have an average IQ, don't have a girlfriend (though I don't have trouble talking with girls / people one-on-one in general), and I definitely don't think I have any inate ability to solve puzzles or whatever ability the stereotypical autist has.

I do prefer to be by myself though, and I get slightly anxious in social situations, but then again, who doesn't, right?

non-autistic people don't

Name: Anonymous 2009-06-04 6:30

You're telling me you never once felt the slightest bit of unease in a new social setting?

Name: Anonymous 2009-06-04 6:37

You mean that stupid wheel quiz-like thing? I scored normal on all aspects but "autistic" in ability.

Take that bitch.

Autism is a name given to a broad range of disorders at present. With each publication of DSM more and more diagnostic labels are added, to better accommodate those affected by this epidemic.

A person with traditional autism would not be posting on a forum without assistance, so I suggest that the diagnosis should not be misused by forum members, in an effort to speed things along, in getting these new diagnosis names into the mainstream.

In other words, don't say that you're autistic, unless you sit banging your head on the wall 15 hours out of the day.

That being said... I have PDD-NOS

Does it bother you that I am autistic unless I sit banging my head on the wall 15 hours out of the day?

Are you proud to have a mild case of Autism? Not trying to be mean; I personally would be thrilled if I could be diagnosed with PDD. It would definitely explain some things...

Name: Anonymous 2009-06-04 7:07

Is it because of your life that you are going through all this?

Name: Anonymous 2009-06-04 7:09

Nothing bothers me, I lack that human flaw.  Some might say that I lack emotion, and I admit that I care little about most people, but to answer your question more completely..  do as you please, if using the autism label helps get you the attention that you crave, then do it.

Recognizing that I do have some weaknesses, I try not to look down on mortals.

Name: Anonymous 2009-06-04 7:12

When did you first know that you lack emotion and you admit that you care little about most people?

You sound more like a sociopath than an autist. Then again, perhaps the two aren't mutually exclusive

Name: Anonymous 2009-06-04 7:15

>>31

I knew that I wasn't normal as long as I can remember, but it wasn't till I was 11, starting medical school, that I put 2 and 2 together.

Name: Anonymous 2009-06-04 7:15

Why do you say sound might want to have this sociopath than an autist then again perhaps the two are not mutually exclusive?

Name: Anonymous 2009-06-04 7:19

normal is a myth, we all have issues of varying degrees

Does thinking 7 billion people in the world is too many make me a sociopath... no.  Actively attempting to reduce that population would make me a sociopath.

Name: Anonymous 2009-06-04 7:33

btw   peas touching the fish... wouldn't that fall into the obsessive compulsive disorder category?  again, not mutually exclusive, but also not a commonality among autistic persons.

Name: Anonymous 2009-06-04 7:33

...What???

Name: Anonymous 2009-06-04 7:37

I have PDD-NOS
Cool label, bro. The NOS acronym nicely enforces how this is a joke of a medical term.
