There's a girl in one of my classes whom I find absolutely beautiful. I found her Twitter, and apparently she codes in F a lot. The thing is, I've been meaning to talk to her, but I have the feeling I won't have anything to talk about. We don't seem to have anything in common. For the record, I pretty much only program in Scheme and Haskell.
So I've been thinking of learning F and doing a small project in it. I want it to be somewhat impressive, of course. F doesn't seem to be particularly easy to master, though, so I'm reluctant.
Well. Do you guys think I should do it, and if so, is there any book you recommend?

Women can't code at all, yet alone in F. Just learn a few basic language constructs and you will be talking down to her on the subject.

It's not like you have to program in F just for her to like you. I think it's better to have different languages so you can teach each other something new. Man up and just freaking talk to her.

Do you mean F#?
Just be aware that ``awesome_princess'' isn't a chick...
Women in Computer Science don't ``code''. They pair up with other CS nerds and get them to do all their work. In 3 years of CS I haven't seen a single woman that didn't do that. I hate women.

This may surprise you, but I am a woman and I completed my EECS course. I did all the work expected of any student and I passed the course just fine. inb4 mysogynistic characterizations and stereotypes
all the work expected of any student
exactly. you got other people who were smarter than you to do all the work for you. that's what all students do. or at least the ones who make it all the way through college, that is.

So I am not allowed to have passion for learning about EE or CS? I'm not allowed to have passion to invest effort to learn everything that is taught in these classes?

You only know toy languages. Women (like me ^_^) want real men, not boys who fiddle around with their toy languages.
I bet you haven't even reached Satori yet. Also you should probably try and learn Fjölnir, girls (like me ^_^) get moist when a man is coding in Fjölnir.
If you want to attract girls you should program in Ruby, using a MacBook in Starbucks.

I don't really know anything about [aa]F[aa], but I don't think this would work, OP.
Would she be willing (and able!) to learn Haskell and ((Scheme))?
