I'm from MIT. Met the sussman in person, great guy to share a few drinks with, very smart and intuitive, had fun discussing the fundamentals of recursive pointers.

Really? I have heard the man can be a bit irritable and has been known to throw chalk at his students when angered.

The sussman has been known to throw the occasional parity when climbing sequential trees. Climbing sequential trees whilst throwing parities, heh.

Smalltalk: to show that anyone can slay dragons, he gives the sword to a young girl, who not only slays the dragon but also modifies the scenario to make herself the princess.
OP here, you may not realize this but I make these threads that aren't really programming related such as "Kevin Mitnick dislikes SICP" or "How to get to #prog on irc" have a good evening.

Your post was perhaps one of the strangest pieces of message I have ever received. Although it is commendable to attend a ``top league school'', in fact, it is a very bad idea. Unlike most of human society, science and engineering are based on the idea that each of us is capable of evaluating evidence and thinking on our own. Each of us can do experiments, work out the reasoning, and determine the truth for ourselves at any fine learning establishment. There is no room in science or engineering for ``a holy school'' representing group approval over individual thought. One of my heros, Galileo, put it very well:
In questions of science, the authority of a thousand is not worth the humble reasoning of a single individual.
I am pleased to discuss with people about matters of science or engineering, so we may certainly learn. I hope to learn as much from your experiences as you may learn for me. But please get rid of the ``cult of personality'' way of thinking. It is unscientific and ultimately destructive.
