emacs: Terminal type "dumb" is not powerful enough to run Emacs.
It lacks the ability to position the cursor.
If that is not the actual type of terminal you have,
use the Bourne shell command `TERM=... export TERM' (C-shell:
`setenv TERM ...') to specify the correct type.  It may be necessary
to do `unset TERMINFO' (C-shell: `unsetenv TERMINFO') as well.

Exactly. On 2channel and Futaba they use the sage function "politely" as to not age or "bump" a thread to clog up the front page, and allow newer threads to be more visible to incomers. On 4chan, it's ignorantly used as a sign of disapproval and the oft-used "SAGE THIS SHIT!" is posted. Sometimes "sage-bombing" comes along with the territory. Quite sad, 4chan, quite sad indeed.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-23 17:07

that's only on the parts of 4chan that aren't /prog/.
people misusing sage on /prog/ are just ignorant faggots who can't tell the difference between /prog/ and /b/.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-23 17:17

>>75
Not really. I visit only /prog/ regularly, and have been doing that for years. Initially, I used sage only for its intended purpose. Since then I've found this approach to be quite limiting, and have started occasionally consciously `misusing' sage for more expressivity.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-23 17:22

>>75
That could be said for any board that isn't /b/. (Text or image.) Morons think every board is just /b/, but with a theme.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-23 21:02

The problem with sage is that it is not done silently, and instead showing up as a big blue link. In my text board software I have fixed this problem.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-25 19:47

I think a good idea for a text board would be to have two indexes, one for new threads, and one for recently discussed threads.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-26 11:16

>>82
If you have a list of threads listed in order of most recently discussed, why would you want a separate list of threads?

Besides, this text board and others like it already list threads in order of most recently discussed (bumped) on top.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-26 11:19

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-26 11:22

Why did you write it in perl, and more importantly why did you even write it in the first place? It's not like the world needs another image board script.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-26 11:25

another image board script

It's not another image board script...

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-26 11:28

>>83
The first list would list the N most recently posted threads, and the second list would list the M most recently commented threads.  I think excluding the first list from the second might be a good idea, and making the second list longer since it'll be updated more frequently.

With this system there would be no reason for a sage system (the reason it exists is so that new threads don't go unnoticed in my opinion).

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-26 11:34

>>87
Actually, the reason sage exists in 2ch boards is to keep threads FROM the top. Users in 2ch don't like their threads being on the front page because it attracts trolls and undesirables. If there is a semi-private discussion going on out of sight and you bump the thread, they usually get mad at you for bumping the thread to the front page.

I think this is a very bizarre behavior, in 4chan the opposite is true, everyone wants their thread to be on the front page and if you post without bumping (sage'ing) their thread, they take great offense to that.

I got an <a href="http://www.maternityweddingdressesshop.com" title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">maternity wedding dresses</a> engagement ring for Christmas. My <a href="http://www.maternityweddingdressesshop.com" title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">maternity wedding dresses</a> boyfriend and I had been dating for almost a year and both felt the time was <a href="http://www.maternityweddingdressesshop.com" title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">maternity wedding dresses</a>right to join our lives together in holy matrimony. htmlThe month of January was spent planning our <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> perfect Alabama June wedding. My mother, two sisters and I went to Huntsville, the closest <a href="http://www.maternityweddingdressesshop.com" title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">maternity wedding dresses</a> town with a selection of bridal shops, to buy the gown that would play the leading role on my special occasion. We <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> had a wonderful time just being together and sharing silly jokes, but the <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> day soon turned serious by afternoon: still no sign of the dress of my dreams. Both sisters were ready to give <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> up and try another day in another town, but I coerced them into one more boutique.I had a good feeling as we entered the quaint little <a href="http://www.maternityweddingdressesshop.com" title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">maternity wedding dresses</a> shop filled with the scent of fresh flowers. The elderly clerk showed us several <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> beautiful gowns in my size <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> and price range, but none were right. As I opened the door to leave, the desperate shop owner announced she had one more dress in the back that was expensive and <a href="http://www.maternityweddingdressesshop.com" title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">maternity wedding dresses</a> not even my size, but perhaps I <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> might want to look at it anyway. When she brought it out, I squealed in delight.
