Quest for Satori

Name: Anonymous 2009-03-12 15:46

Hello /prog/ gurus.
On my way of achieving Satori, I decided this is the right time for me to try a proper functional language.
My question is, should I learn Haskell or a variant of Lisp, along with reading SICP?

If you were truly on your way to achieving Satori you would already know the answer. Read SICP!

functional programming is trendy -- PROTIP: Trendy doesn't mean it actually has any substance for examples see: Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey has plenty substance if you ask me...

Well anyway, how do I make the text white and the background dark? Black on white isn't very healthy for my eyes, and I don't want blindness to get in the way of my enlightenment.

Install FreeBSD. It comes like that by default.

A white background is healthier on the eyes.  A black background strains them.

Lisp is not a proper functional language. It is far superior.

White text on black (or some other off black color) gives a greater contrast than black text on white. This means that the eyes are less strained when looking at white on black.
