Let's help /prog/

Name: Anonymous 2008-05-23 14:00

/r/ more textboard moderators!

Name: Anonymous 2008-05-23 14:04

hax my anus, James.

Name: Anonymous 2008-05-23 15:15

Meh. /prog/'s mostly modlessness has been mostly good.
I wouldn't mind having >>2 banned, but he'd just come back through a proxy, and then you'd start needing moderator presence and crap like that and then where would /prog/ be?
So no.

Name: Anonymous 2008-05-23 15:57

4chan never rolls out more moderators anyway, they just put out more janitors and rely on the reporting system.  MrVacBob has said he wants to introduce the same reporting on world4ch and that's the most moderation you'll ever see on /prog/.

Honestly, if you wanted moderated content, go to 4-ch's programming board. Part of the glory of /prog/ is that it, largely, is not moderated. Sure, this turns it into quite the shitfest, but when people want to introduce serious discussion there's serious discussion to be had.

If you're really bothered by it, writing a greasemonkey script to filter out hax my anus posts or posts with a high bbcode amount is a fairly trivial exercise.

tl;dr - stop bitching

Mods don't understand /prog/, so they don't moderate. Lol.

Can you show me the sourcecode, please?

Just whip up a Greasemonkey script that involves a regex search for the keywords hax and anus then blank out that post (or do whatever). I would personally append a (USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST) sort of gimmick purely to appease my anger.

or, if you want low level,

wget to fetch the html of this page
filter through awk to find <blockquote> and check for regexes
      see http://dis.4chan.org/read/prog/1209700628/46
view filtered and tagged results in browser
put all that in a shell script invoked by a desktop icon that
gets the URL as a command line argument

Of courese YOU like it, Spammer.
But it's called /prog/, not /spam/.
It's supposed to be about programming, not a Ctl-V dump.

If you can't write it yourself, you don't belong on /prog/. If you can't realize that >>5 was simply an example of what you should do yourself, that the implementation is at most 7 lines of JavaScript, then you don't belong on /prog/.

tl;dr gtfo.

Yeah, you have to be an experienced programmer to qualify to read memes and long lists of "LISP LISP LISP LISP"...

Some people don't like javascript. I, myself, fucking hate everything that is web-related, and had a terrible experience with the epiphany (lol gnome) greasemonkey extension. That, adding the lack of good documentation of javascript black magic and its apparently intrinsic regular expression support, gave most people a bad impression of it. Sure, you can google "greasemonkey howto" and copypaste a few lines, but I won't do it myself. Leave it for web designers that don't know anything about ``code beautifulness''

Any faggot like you can lurk here. Only expert programmers that achieved satori can post in /prog/.

Name: Anonymous 2008-05-24 23:59

>>13
What the fuck. You're arguing against >>11 which states "we're not going to give you shit to kopipe" with "I wouldn't kopipe if I could". Perhaps you didn't understand that >>11 was replying to >>7, or perhaps I'm just incredibly drunk. In any case, your post has little merit as a reply to >>11. To reply to your content separately - if you don't like using Javascript then write your goddamn system (as >>9 suggests, or otherwise) to filter the posts if you want them filtered.

Otherwise fuck off or shut the fuck up. You control the data on your own machine; don't bitch at others because you're too incompetent to do so.

IF you don't want to help and discuss things, why are you here?

You sound like a SpiderMonkey expert.
