I'm doing a vim tutorial because Emacs hurts my fingers and I think the modal style of vim will be easier on my fingers.
This made me LOL for some reason:
Move the cursor to the beginning of the first line, for example, and type xxxxxxx (eight x’s) to delete the first eight characters on the line.
Can you guess what it is yet?

Actually the Vim equivalent of C-a C-u 8 <del> would be 08x.

You mean 8x.
Generally, N<sequence> repeats <sequence> N times, so shove C-a C-u 8 del up yers.

Are you a fucking retard?
- The Vim equivalent of C-a is 0
- The Vim equivalent of C-u 8 <del> is 8x
- The Vim equivalent of C-a C-u 8 <del> is 08x

No you fucking idiot, C-a C-u 8 <del> is supposed to delete 8 characters from the buffer which is exactly what vim does with 8x.
fuck, IHBT?

OP here... so... does Vim do Scheme syntax indentation or what? I don't want syntax highlighting, but I'd like to be able to press tab in the middle of a line and that that line be indented correctly. Or perhaps Ctrl-C TAB or something?

Well, as I said in OP, as a long time Emacs user, I'm trying out Vim.
