So, Tanenbaum is giving a lecture at my university tomorrow. What would be a good way to troll him? I was thinking of wearing a shirt stating: "GNU Hurd - The power of microkernels." It's also money savvy because I could use that to troll RMS if he ever comes here. Some other guy suggested printing the flamewar off Google News and asking him for an autograph.
Note that it can't be something that would take too long to prepare (I only have until tomorrow) or something stupid he's sick and tired of hearing all the time (ie: "LAWL LINUX TARBALLS OWNED YOUR FACE BACK WHEN I WAS 5").
Also, Mr. Tanenbaum, if you're reading this, could you please ask "If you post on /prog/@world4ch, stand up." tomorrow? If you do so, you'll become the second /prog/ god, right after The Sussman.

Have it autographed by all participating parties, then when Open Source Software collapses in 2012 it will be worth shit-loads.

Please get rid of the mischievous way of acting. It is unscientific and ultimately destructive.

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Wie treu sind deine Blätter!
Du grünst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit,
Nein auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Wie treu sind deine Blätter!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
Wie oft hat schon zur Winterszeit
Ein Baum von dir mich hoch erfreut!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren:
Die Hoffnung und Beständigkeit
Gibt Mut und Kraft zu jeder Zeit!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren!

Saw that one coming from 1,609344 kilometres away.
Meh boring speaker tbh. RMS was better, unrelated entirely to the content of his talk btw.

If I wanted to learn something from him, I'd read his books. Lectures and presentations are the CS equivalent of live shows, no one goes there to listen to music, it's just for the "Oh fuck, he's two meters away from me!" feeling.
Obviously, if I have something decent to ask him, I'll ask.

Device support is one of the last major obstacles for the Hurd. We need help porting the Linux 2.6 driver model to the Hurd.

What the shit, Tanenbaum has nothing to do with Hurd. The joke is that Hurd is shit (the troll is that I'm implying Hurd is the best microkernel out there).

What the butt, get out. I didn't know people who don't know about the Tanenbaum vs Linus flamewar were allowed in /prog/.

If >>5 actually emailed him this thread, expect that link to break really soon. That reminds me I still need to buy his book, I could have sworn I had it.
Well, Tanenbaum didn't autograph the flamewar I printed out. He said that he's so tired of hearing about it, he keeps getting tons of emails from random people with stuff like "I am Jin Xhung. Linus is very good person, you are bad man." daily. If you look back, he was so unlucky it's almost funny, he did sane predictions and then the impossible happened, several times. 386? Who the fuck is going to be running 386s in a couple of years? Shit sucks, right?
He signed my Minix CD, though. He's a pretty nice guy. I really liked his presentation.
