poke fun at regexp? perl invented regexp, what ever puny implementation of regexp you have in pythin it's probably PCRE, HAVE YOU ANY IDEA WHAT THAT MEANS?!?!?!?
it means Perl's not Compatible Regular Expressions, GNU BABY!

Yes. It means it's faster than Perl in a lot of regexps

What I want to know is why the hell are regular expressions so hard? It's like someone decided one day, oh, I'm going to make something which does pattern matching and create the most bizarre ass-backwards bubble gum syntax for it. I honestly think whoever invented it is actually the greatest troll of all time, truly worthy of /prog/ trolls.
(lreg-match '(\^ (* \w) l o , \s ([^ (- a z)) ([ a b o) r l (* \w) ! \$)
'(H e l l o , #\sp W o r l d!))
Because polish notation, expression trees and finite state machines are just begging to be mixed.

They're not hard. It's just that the symbol set used to describe regexes also includes symbol that you may want to match, so you have to use escaping, which makes it look unwieldy.
i don't see what the hell is so bad with perl regexp, i honestly can't complain and i've used them for a long time, and still use them constantly
if anyone can give a valid argument against perl regexp syntax that doesn't have anything to do with your personal taste in syntax then i will stfu and gtfo

Fish rule at dick-sucking because they don't have to breathe
Getting back on topic somewhat, this reminds me of a photo I saw once where a guy had his dick shoved halfway up a snake's shithole. It may have been a python.
