It's true. A skilled but bad programmer will sit around play tic tac toe for 10 hours then write the program in 100 lines of simple code. A very good programmer will make sure he "works" at it nonstop and writes a 2000 line program with complicated code, and charges double.

So a good programmer makes his program slow and needlessly complicated? Not necessarily slow, but given how management tends to work in the field, unnecessary complication and poor documentation are the only form of job security many code monkeys know about.
