i want to make a lot of money without going to college for a long time. does anyone actually hire people with an associates in programming, if so how much would they make? also, will i kill myself due to 8 hours of coding every day?
Actually writing code is the worst-paying job in the IT industry, compared to planing and designing applications, for example.

Actually, if you go LOLMICROSOFTAJAXENTERPRISE like I am, I've seen plenty of starting salaries for people with mssql+asp.net(c#) proficiency in the 60-70k range, add some management and planning ability to that and you've got yourself a six figure job.
Get an MCAD + MCDBA + one of the management related ones, and you're well on your way to making some good money without stepping foot into a college.
If you care about money, I'd recommend staying away from low-level languages as a specialty (but definitely look it over for education sake), you'd just end up being part of THE MACHINE. If you care more about LOLOPTIMIZED, then have fun trying to break 50K a year.

Maybe in your pathetic country, but where I live I earn a decent living with my code.
