programming as a profession

i want to make a lot of money without going to college for a long time. does anyone actually hire people with an associates in programming, if so how much would they make? also, will i kill myself due to 8 hours of coding every day?

note:  i know little to nothing about programming.

Maybe in your pathetic country, but where I live I earn a decent living with my code.
