If you wish to learn a .NET language, use VB.NET instead of C#. Language constructs such as With .. End With will save you time, and Microsoft's IDE for VB.NET is somewhat nicer than C#.
If you wish to prove to co-workers that you don't know what you're doing, use VB.NET instead of C#. VB users are generally vastly more incompetent because the highly skilled instruction is vastly less likely to use VB, while less-skilled instruction is vastly more likely to use VB. That's because VB is supposed to be an "easier" language, and unskilled idiots believe that it actually is an easier language.

Nonsense. The best way to prove to co-workers that you are incompetent is to actually be incompetent - and that can be done using VB.NET or C# or anything. Conversely, if you have programming skill then VB.NET will not be a hinderance in expressing it.
I do agree with your assertion that VB users are generally not as skilled in the art though. But our elite crack squad of programmers in /prog/ obviously do not fall in to that category.
