Does anyone on this board have experience writing/working on operating systems? I've got a bit of a homebrew kernel going on, and I want to see what other people have done and what experiences they can offer.
>>5 big guys in software industry just couldnt let that happen; who's going to take over kernel after him? i'm sure they will keep him on artificial life sustenance until someone comes up with anything better than linux.
I'm doing my own little OS personality on top of the L4 microkernel. It's far less of a pain than doing task switching and page table management yourself, plus working toward getting something useful going even if it's an experiment that never goes anywhere for real is piles of fun.
Now, if only the L4::Pistachio guys did a 0.5 release. The last one's from like 2004.
