It's better for math than most. Complex numbers and floats...those things are iffy in other languages.

C99 and D apparently handly complex numbers properly. C99 also has the restrict keyword that prevents pointer aliasing, potentially allowing C to perform as well as Fortran.

Of course, there aren't any fully-compliant C99 compilers out there. AFAIK, GCC comes the closest, and I doubt it has much hope against commercial Fortran compilers.

Fortran does not suck nearly as bad as RPG-II
PL/1 sucks worse than Fortran, as well.
COBOL...We will not mention.

With all respect, I wonder why is ISO wasting their time with features such as complex numbers in C99. What they need is a decent standard library, not the piece of crap we have now, which is not only useless and somewhat ugly, but a factory of vulnerabilities.

Hey, I agree with you completely. Unfortunately, this is the way that things have fallen out. To say that I was disappointed would be an understatement.

As you may have guessed by my post, I moved on (to D). At least I don't have to write Yet Another Hash Table anymore, and the stdlib is both better and being continually improved.
