So, i'm on AIM. And a friend of mine sends me an IM. He needs help with his Computer Science homework, im like ok sure! I'm pretty good at that! And guess what, IT'S JAVA. I have experience in that language, so i accepted the request. What what do you fucking know, im boggled by the most irrational and illogical shit he throws at me. Why, WHY DOES THIS SHIT STILL EXIST

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-17 17:53

btw 2 isnt fucking prime.

fuck.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-17 18:40

what did you expect?

Java is fine too, just learn it properly.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-17 18:57

Whining about java, language syntax shows that you too immature to actually finish a program.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-17 20:03

i can finish a program. im a programmeur!!!

Have you seen that shitty implementation?

Java is not fine, even if you implement the best practices for maximum productivity and scalability enabling your enterprise to reduce the total cost of ownership by converting visitors into customers with their Web 2.0 AJAX application.

BTW, it's not the syntax what fails. The syntax is actually pretty good (probably because it was not invented by Sun). If only the language and standard library were that good...

I had to take Java in the first year of my CS degree. It was easy enough to use but I didn't really care for it. Fortunately in the second year I had the option to learn Prolog instead, which was much more interesting.

Syntax is AIDS, it's too verbose (and moreso with the classes and shit).

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-19 6:23

>>9
And don't forget that the crummy syntax is well matched to the crummy semantics.

Doesn't even have higher order functions, how can I be expected to work with a blunt tool...

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-19 7:22

Java isn't nearly as bad as C#
*shudder*

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-19 7:22

Verbose? It's C-like, that's in the terse side compared to other languages. Can you give an example of where you find it verbose?

(Note: Not defending Java (javur sux lol), just defending the C-like syntax.)

I agree. In terms of syntax, VB.NET is much nicer than C#.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-19 9:13

It's C-like
Meaning it has curly braces and a few other superficial things.
PieceOCrap omfg = GenericFactoryFactory.newGenericFactory(42, 69, null).newPieceOCrap().getInstance();is not terse.

it looks like you're confusing syntax and the naming conventions of the standard library.

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-19 12:29

ohMyFuckingGod

It's been noted that Pascal is alive and well.

How? Well, Java and C# have a C-like syntax, but their semantics are that of Pascal.

That's not the syntax you dislike you dumb fuck. The syntax is C-like. The standard library, which is what you are using and what you don't like, is shit. The stupidCase naming convention is shit too.

you're teh shit, not the language, dipshit!
