i'm thinking of learning a desktop programming language. i'm decent with a few browser/server based languages, like php and javascript, but i wanna go beyond that.

so what are the pros/cons of ruby and python, and which should i go with?

Oh very well. I'll just call Python and Ruby toy languages that would like to be Perl without the respective authors' pet peeves. So now you have a pair of languages where doing things that could be implemented in one line of Perl require definition of several classes and tens of lines of code.

Gg, people, gg.
