Hi I was wondering if anybody here could help me with mod_perl on linux. I've just started using linux recently so I'm not as good with programming as most linux users obviously are. The problem is that I can't seem to get mod_perl to work with apache2. Anyone has any ideas/suggestions for me?

First of all you need to get better at asking for help. You haven't said exactly what the problem is or what you've tried to fix it. Don't worry, everyone is like you at first. In fact I still am...
So:
What distro are you using?
Have you actually managed to install mod_perl? (eg apt-get mod_perl, emerge mod_perl, whatever your distro uses to install stuff)
Are you ready to deal with the fucking insanity that is Apache's config files?

Since you didn't tell us the problem I'll have to assume that you don't know how to configure it to work because that was the problem I ran into when I installed mod_perl. <IfModule mod_perl.c>
<Files ~ "\.pl$">
SetHandler perl-script
PerlResponseHandler ModPerl::PerlRun
PerlOptions +ParseHeaders
</Files>
</IfModule>Is what I managed to hack together in my httpd.conf.
Butting in with my own question, still on topic though: I am not all that skilled with http servers and I can't get that PerlModule option to work. Apache just won't start when I use that however the mod_perl site says that you should have that. It all works without but is it bad to not have it there? Also this is a Windows machine running Apache2 I'm talking about.

Read "How to Ask Smart Questions" by ESR.
ESR is Eric S. Raymond. He wrote "How to Ask Smart Questions". You should read "How to Ask Smart Questions", by ESR.
Don't you dare fucking ask where you can find it. Google.

On the contrary, take anything ESR writes with a huge pinch of salt. He has a real big agenda that clouds all of his creative output with the same shit.

Have you read "How to Ask Smart Questions"? It could've been written by anyone; ESR just articulates it nicely. Yes, I know he's a twat, but I've got to give him credit for this one.

Yes, I've read it. The general message is sound but his style is rather off-putting.
For example, it contains off-topic pieces of advice like "Throw out that Microsoft trash and install an open-source operating system like Linux or BSD." and arrogant posturings such as "If you decide to come to us for help, you don't want to be one of the losers.".
Still a bit confusing I know how to write good Perl You just having a blonde moment Generally there is nothing wrong with the language in order to get the good ones are very flexible to deal with designer code which is utter nonsense What size t is guaranteed to exceed any given maximum size.
