Why is it that so many people deny raw facts?

The holocaust happened
Ron Paul isn't going to win
We have too many people in prison
The free market needs regulations
Guns are dangerous and should be banned
A woman should be able to have an abortion
Free healthcare has worked for France
Iran getting a nuclear bomb would be dangerous
Prostitution is harmful to women

Me, I'm "allergic" to people who believe there are simple solutions to complicated problems, be they social or whatever.  Injustice and idiocy is everywhere, but, while everyone has different thoughts running through their heads, there is no thing as one easy answer.  What matters is what you strive for.  The important thing is that you keep walking forward carrying what you believe in while causing the least amount of pain unto other people.

Take all of >>67.  My reply is: what of it?  I am not holding myself accountable for any of those decisions made; I am also not going to hold anyone alive today accountable for the decisions that were made before them.  Decision and choice and flawed things in general - I know mine are flawed often, and I doubt those choices made back then were any better.  I have a lot of better things to do than lament that neither the past I took no part in nor the present that I have to struggle through match my ideals.

So, if you want me to acknowledge these things, fine.  I WILL.  I will acknowledge the flaws of the past.  But I already made my decisions knowing the past was flawed somehow, so it doesn't impact anything about the decisions I've made.  You don't live a good life by regretting or acting upon every mistake ever made by your ancestors.  That's a self-made prison.
