4chan worse than Congress?

And I thought Congress sitting on their asses was a terrible waste of time.  Most 4chan topics all like, start with the topic, then BANTER!!!!!!  Sometimes it's just no topic and only the banter part.

I'm not expecting anything to get DONE here, but does any one here have a real purpose of all this banter, even outside 4chan?  Not like answering will do you any good. >:

We use cheap dirty tricks and sometimes fail to progress the debate beyond the most basic points that we're still quibbling over, however if cheap dirty tricks were not allowed we'd probably be too afraid of offending anyone and revert to congress style populism and never discuss anything of value to begin with.

Case in point, the "fuck capitalism" thread has been going in circles for days, no one has quite defined what exactly the state is and "anti-statist" is causing quite a lot of confuction by one minute opposing the state then next proposing solutions that are identical to that of a state.

to quote John Stewart for the simple reason I can't think of anything better...."If you new as much about the Star Wars movies as you know about government"....I think that's enough....of course...with government being incapable of truly advancing society these days (all great movements were led by people outside of government since Johnson (FOIA)excluding gay rights and that fight is as old as the Greek empire)it's all campaigning vs. governing....btw....'Fuck Capitalism" is a cry for better regulations...something effective at ensuring we all get a chance at true progress instead of just being used.

Get a job, get a life doesn't even begin to cover the issue....learn to learn and do something with productive long-term gains.  I personally would rather just build a bomb shelter since the odds are nil.

i say we're much closer than we ought to be. and in a lot of cases (pc bullshit, using sound bytes and vastly oversimplifying the argument to appeal to the stupid) we're better than congress at getting to the heart of issues. why discourage yourself? of course you should try to do something rather than just discuss, but discussion is better than no discussion.

Politicians are indeed far more intelligent than us on average, the problem is they are machiavellian sociopaths and nothing comes out of their mouths that hasn't been meticulously planned beforehand. In terms of communicable knowledge 4chan is up there, what we lack in wisdom we make up for in lack of motivation to hide our true thoughts, a socially accepted expert has to censor themselves to keep their prestigious position in a university or as a journalist or writer whereas in the rare instance that someone of intelligence strays onto 4chan they will be at their most productive, spewing forth brilliant ideas without fear or restraint.
