Even if all bedouins are luddites, Gaddafi is a benevolent dictator and free healthcare and education means decent healthcare and education, it still doesn't change the fact that other societies have gone from backwards agrarian societies to technophillic industrialized societies without a socialist dictator.

88% of the population are urbanized and the revolts were triggered by the wave of pro-democracy protests sweeping neighbouring Egypt and Tunisia mainly in major cities, they were not started by poor immigrants with no time or resources for this sort of thing, religious fundamentalists or nomadic tribesmen who live nowhere near the rebel strongholds in urban areas on the coast, they may have joined in later but they were not the cause or a significant proportion of the movement.

I said it wasn't always the case, I'm not saying it's a good thing either. What is good however is to accept the truth, if someone doesn't want to accept that getting into power means being evil then either they won't do what is necessary to get into power and fail in their little quest or they will fail to place limitations on themselves and end up being evil.
