Jack up taxes on all imports

Why don't we simply jack up taxes up to 60 percent on all imports?

After all,Americans will only buy the cheapest crap right?

So what if we make American products the cheapest by taxing everyone's products?

Because that would be fucking stupid.

Why the hell it would be?

Because it would result in a backlash from other nations.  They'll raise their own tariffs and our exports will drop dramatically.

Nations exist, these non-white nations are not run for our benefit. Things are not mined for or made in the USA because the government has systematically destroyed our industries and agriculture. Globalization has nothing to do with "free trade".
