What is the Tea Party?

I've heard this before and now I hear this here. But what the fuck is it? I assume it's a fancy term for the liberal party, right?

The "Tea Party" is just a loose coalition of people who are dissatisfied with the Federal government. They really aren't united on any political philosophy or ideology, and it isn't a political party of any sort.

It's inspired by the "Boston Tea Party" revolt by the colonists against the British  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_tea_party) about two years before the breakout of the American Revolutionary War. Albiet instead of muskets and running for the hills, it's protesting and holding up signs.

That is how is started.  Since then, its owners have accepted large payouts from the Republican Party and now they are under direct GOP control.  The Tea Party are basically the party of Neocons.

They must be stopped...

Payouts?  to whom?  we've already established that the Tea Party is a loose affiliation of citizens with only the bare minimum of any centralized planning and their figureheads have essentially celebrity status rather than authoritative or administrative.  If you want to accuse anyone of infiltrating the Tea Party, it'd have to be the Libertarians and they were there from the start.

As I see it, their reverse-courting is catered to a variety of conservative and moderate philosophies (though I may just be reading "moderate" into that unfairly without considering all its implications).

Are you fucking stoned?  Sharron Angle is saying God wanted women to be raped and getting an abortion is wrong is NOT MODERATE.  It is right wing psycho fucking neocon.  She also is demanding restrictions on free speech.

Oh, the Tea Party Express.  Sorry, when I was writing >>3 that group slipped my mind.  It might be bigger than some others but other Tea Party groups, inclding a small one I'm working with on the east coast, do see it as a bit of a black sheep, difficult to disown but impossible to hold to.

I'm not familiar with Sharron Angle but a cursory observation of stories involving her indicate that she isn't for women getting raped - just that rape-induced pregnancy is still not "an excuse for an abortion."  "God has a plan for everyone" is the same as saying "God provides."  That is a position in which she and I do differ in opinion but, on the scale of concerns, abortion is low on my list.
"First Amendment" concerns, however, are high priority; but, a cursory search doesn't turn up anything regarding Angle and free speech that narrows down your point, aside from that comment with Jon Stewart about the press, at least.  Could you provide a more definite article that I could work an argument from?

I did also say that "moderate" was probably an ill-fit word for that sentence.

The tea party is just people pissed off at the Fed gov't.

It only stands to reason that it would be right-leaning.
